Salad Spinners

Pull-cord and push-button salad spinners for washing and drying lettuce, herbs and greens.

A salad spinner dries washed leafy greens by spinning the inner basket inside an outer bowl, using centrifugal force to throw water off the leaves into the bowl. Dry greens absorb dressing better than wet greens; water on lettuce dilutes vinaigrette and prevents it from coating the leaves evenly. A pull-cord mechanism (Zyliss) spins faster than a pump mechanism with the same effort; a push-button mechanism (OXO) is easier to operate with wet hands. The bowl can be used as a serving bowl after spinning, saving a transfer step. A brake button stops the basket quickly after spinning.
